Interesting Speaker-Michelle Rhee

I had the pleasure of listening to Ms. Michelle Rhee-former Chancellor of D.C. Schools. I was able to hear her live at a speaker series I attended last night. She is really intelligent and has some interesting views on public education.
She really thinks outside the box.

Work it on out!!

Group work is so important in today's world. This awesome math class was using data collection and organization to plan a hypothetical pizza party...students were asked to plan for 16 students, with information on costs, number of pieces, toppings and pizza size.

....who knows, if they plan just right, they might just earn one themselves!

Keep up the great work, kiddos!!

Science at the School Board Meeting

Some students from our class who placed at Brown School's first science fair stopped by the January school board meeting to share their exhibits.
Congratulations to Nate and Wyatt and their Greasy Fingers exhibit:

And also great job to Cheyenne with her Popcorn experiment:

They learned the scientific process and used it to answer a problem or question they had. They had a great time doing it and were able to answer questions from board members. Way to go, kiddos!!!
